The Mitsubishi Outlander is the largest vehicle of the Mitsubishi SUV range and was introduced in Japan in 2001. It was originally known as the Mitsubishi Airtrek and is the official first generation of the Outlander. The nameplate ‘Outlander’ was adopted in 2006 by all markets when the second generation was released. The second-gen Outlander is also known as a Citroen C-Crosser and a Peugeot 4007 – both with differences in the face of the vehicle.
As part of the third generation launched in 2012, Mitsubishi unveiled a plug-in hybrid model also called the Outlander PHEV. This model had three facelifts between 2014 and 2018.
Following the Nissan-Renault- Mitsubishi alliance, the fourth generation Outlander was revealed in 2021 with sales beginning in 2022, thus becoming the 2022 Outlander. This model had a complete redesign, along with all new generations and facelift models of the Mitsubishi passenger vehicle range.
